Ainos viewpoint and lookout

The views from the highest peak of Kefalonia are amazing. Hiking up to Ainos viewpoint and looking around from the highest lookout is priceless: you can reach the highest place in Kefalonia island, above the clouds! Ainos Mountain (Aenos) is the highest point of the Ionian Islands with its height of 1628 meters, surrounded by pine forests and barren rocks both.

Near the official Ainos viewpont there was built a free parking lot (Ainos National Park Parking) and an antenna station, the latter is visible from the southern coastal areas of Kefalonia island. Its important to know that the Ainos viewpoint and lookout is situated slightly away from the antennas and from the parking lot, and you have to follow the dirt trail about 350-400 meters in south direction.

To visit the lookout of Ainos mountain you need to walk by extra caution, because the last section of trail to the viewpoint is filled rocks, stones and the mountainside is steep.
