A small, but important monastery of Kefalonia island is Holy Monastery of Sissia, which was founded by Saint Francis of Assisi according to a local legend. The original buildings of the monastery were destroyed by an earthquake, but to the ruins of Old Sissia Monastery there is a short path, and can be accessed by a minute walk.
