The Airport of Kefalonia Island (Kefalonia International Airport Anna Pollatou, Aεροδρόμιο Κεφαλονιάς Άννα Πολλάτου) is near Minies village, just 8 kilometers from Argostoli and 6 kilometers from Lassi. It’s the only airport in Kefalonia island, and it is no so big and busy such as the airports of Crete, Rhodes, Athens or Thessaloniki, but it’s terminal building can handle air traffic well.

The terminal is brand new, because it has been renovated in recent years, making more spacious, modern and comfortable for travellers. The best places for airplane spotting near Kefalonia Airport are the two ends of runways. On the southern end of the runway there is a great sandy beach, known as Ammes beach, where the landing and the taking off planes can be seen well. Ammes beach is also near to Svoronata, Minia and Metaxata villages.

The north side of the runway there is also a plane spotting place, just find Spasmata beach. If you stop your car or scooter at Spasmata beach, you will see the fence of the airport next to the road, and there is a spot from where the planes can be seen the best. Another great plane spotting place in Kefalonia Island is in Lakithra village, which was built on the hills a few kilometers away. There are several places in Lakithra, from where the whole area of the airport can be seen from, with the landing planes of course.
